The purpose of marketing research: analysis of the world grain market in the context of the following crops: wheat, barley, corn, rye, rice, oats, sorghum.

To achieve this goal, the following tasks were solved within the framework of this study:

• 1. A comparative analysis of grain crops by parameters was carried out:

• sown area (million hectares);

• yield (tons / ha);

• production volume (million tons);

• consumption (million tons);

• trade volume (export-import) (million tons);

• volume of carry-over stocks (million tons).

In addition to comparative dynamic analysis, a structural analysis based on the country-by-country comparison of the values ​​of the indicators under consideration is given. For each grain crop, geographical maps have been compiled showing the main producers and consumers of the culture.

The time period for a number of actual data: 1988/1989 crop year - 2009/2010 crop year. A country comparison is made for the period from 2006/2007 to 2009/2010.

For the current 2010/2011 harvest year, the forecast is given.

• 2. Compiled profiles of major manufacturers (USA, Canada, Australia, Argentina, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Turkey, France, Germany, UK, Spain and Italy) and main consumers (China, Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Thailand, Algeria) grain.

• Ø cultivated area / share in the total cultivated area under crop in the world;

• Ø yield;

• Ø structure of cultivated area by types of crops grown;

• Ø production volume / share in world crop production;
