The main reason for the increase in demand is the rapid population growth, primarily in developing countries. However, in 2015, the most cereals were sold in China, the USA and India.
In 2011-2015, the most popular in the world market was corn, which accounted for an average of about 36% of all sales of grain crops in the world. Corn is the most important fodder crop. It preserves its nutritional value mainly in developing countries, especially in Latin America, in the Middle East. Recently, corn has been used to produce ethanol, which performs the function of lead additives in gasoline.
The share of rice accounted for about 29% of all sales of grain crops in the world. Rice is a grain crop that feeds half of the world's population.
